At TheRealProxy.info you can surf the internet anonymously. You can browse the web at school without being blocked by the school's filter. You can browse the web at work and not be blocked by your work's filter.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Students are meant to be free not to be boxed and limit there needs. I want to spread this message to all those who can't access websites. I want everybody to know that my proxy site exist.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I launched TheRealProxy three weeks ago, on the first day of October and it turn so hard cause nobody did know about my proxy site. Really hard.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
TheRealProxy was from the concept of being real, being free and to be what you want. And it also indicate that the TheRealProxy is the real proxy unlike others. Being real is being unique
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
TheRealProxy is different because i'm Real I'm the Real Proxy. TheRealProxy don't limits you , you can browse and surf the internet anytime you want. The Real Proxy will take you anywhere like watch videos and access blocked sites that most proxy can't do.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My goal is just to spread the word "The Real Proxy" on that my site will be popular and from that also i can have incomes, the more visitors knew and know my proxy site The REal Proxy the more income will arrive on me.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Creating this king of website needs lot of time and dedication, yes it also money consuming. But i really invested on the time i developing it although it cost a lot its ok on me, because i know that someday my hardwork will be paid off.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
If i had that large development project, i will host my site in a dedicated virtual server but it really cost a lot it $100 a month and im just starting in this king of business i really dont have a the guts and the money to get a dedicated server now im just hosting in a cheap hosting but still its realiable. maybe one day if this site become successful i will move my site so my visitors will not experience down time.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
If TheRealProxy go bigtime, now i will have enough development budget to expand and to create more site like TheRealProxy. Because on this kind of business its just risk i know that someday it will be blocked and found out by the school admin or IT staff. If that day comes and my site got bigger i can produce another and another so my visitors will have more options.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Im just new on this business that's why i focus and study the nature of this proxy business, from that i already spend some money for studying this kind of business. At first i was on a free hosting and i never thought of any interuptions but from my surprise TheRealProxy was down for almost 3 days losing lots of web traffics that's why i need to move in much safer hosting. And until now i do research on hosting companies that will accomodate and secure my proxy uptime.
What has been your biggest challenge?
I thought developing a proxy site is hard and i thought this will be hard but its not. Promoting is my biggest challenge, Its hard , very hard. I do forum posting, blog comments , directory submission , article submisions and a lot more and still its not enough. This is my very hard time right now.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I think forum posting, i went to some school forums and some students there asking how to bypass and unlock myspace and other sites. The other one is blog commenting everyday i look for some blog post that center and relates in my proxy sites on the i do add comments with my url. but its hard sometime you were treated as spammer.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I really thought that it would be hard but its not as i said promoting is the very hard part when you create a website. But i'm glad that i came to this risking some money and a lot of time looking for some time that my hard working will be paid off.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I'm running my site for almost 3 weeks and i'm quite happy for what i experiencing right now. I'm not thinking of when i will stop keeping this proxy site, i just think how will i keep it up and where will i get income for that. I want this proxy site to stay much longer i will keep support for this because i know that it can return a good revenue someday. Right now i'm just focusing on the popularity of TheRealProxy and how to be more popular and promising proxy site.
What do i want to succeed on this kind of site?
When you are gaining some income from your website , you can say that your site is successful, but for me yes money is one of the factor why i created a site like this but i want my site to be remembered. I feel that my site is very successful when some one looks for it, search for it, putting "the real proxy" on the search box and want to visit and try my proxy. from that i was really happy that sometime i created a "thing" that someone will look for.
