Nothing Escapes the Internet: Private Eyes on the Prowl

By Website Introductions at 10/08/08 23:55
The internet has evolved into a social media world were most of the content is published and posted by the users. One good example of these are personal blogs and websites, image hosting sites, and social media sites. Local or international crime detection and investigation agencies have long been using these social media forms of the internet to find missing individual, cheating partner, competitor's secret and more. One private investigator broke his silence about the internet being a private eye's bestfriend, which can be read here.

Mixed Up DMV Records

By Website Introductions at 10/06/08 14:47
Theft identity or plain coincidence? One cannot help but wonder why oh why people are getting their record mixed up with other people they do not know at all in places they have never gone to. Sometimes it gets a little irritating when, with computers at their disposal, there are still many cases of identity errors all around. The worse thing is that these agencies, like the DMV, do not even budge!

Skype's Security Breached

By Website Introductions at 10/05/08 23:03
Skype's president, Josh Silverman explained that he did not realize that their partner in China, TOM-Skype was logging and storing user's IM that were deemed offensive by the Chinese government.

Canadian researchers at the University of Toronto said that the TOM-Skype was censoring and logging text chats that contain specific, sensitive keywords may be a future subject for surveillance

Silverman already addressed the security breach issue with TOM and they've already fixed the security breach and now currently addressing the wider issue of the uploading and storage of certain messages. He also assured that Skype's PC to PC calls are secured completely

Why Surf with an Anonymous Proxy?

By Anonymous Surfing at 10/02/08 01:53
Do you think your personal and sensitive information is safe on “secure” sites? Do you think anonymous proxies are only for people with something to hide? Think again. There are several reasons a normal, everyday person may need an anonymous proxy for perfectly legitimate reasons. Anonymous surfing is entirely possible and, at times, entirely necessary.

One reason to use an anonymous proxy is a simple desire for privacy. Search engines, such as Google, track every search query. Some people, even if doing nothing wrong, are uncomfortable with being perpetually watched by a third party they have never met. The major search engines not only track people's searches, but also store this information for up to eighteen months. It's easy to see how any person would be disturbed by this infringement to their privacy.

Your Deleted Data

By Website Introductions at 10/01/08 14:17
You think everything is already alright after you deleted data from your iPhone? Think again. There is actually a way to retrieve supposedly deleted data from your phone if the checker knows what he is doing. It is a complicated process, but I assure you that it is possible.

The iPhone is not the pioneer, either, since most devices that carry data have this property.
