BobCOP Interview

law enforcement BobCOP Interview
Name of your website?

BobCOP

Your name?

Samuel Anderson

Your Location (city, etc)

Columbus

When did you start your website and why?

We started BobCOP in 2007 because I had decided to move forward with a product we had for over ten years and we improved on it based on current technologies and citizens needs and then advanced it further.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

Our model is to allow all agencies that are law enforcement have access to our systems and services including those that are free to them. There is no one like us and we offer both Internet and mobile capabilities with our products. By using cutting-edge technology and advanced systems, police can better themselves by taking advantage of this and save in all areas. We've even created this to allow agencies to adapt to environmental challenges.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

Running it is good...it's easy for us...we really did our homework and worked hard on it to be "COP STUPID". Most of us here are former law enforcement so we can say this term. The reason is, it had to be simple and after the first build, I ended up firing the manager in charge of it, he obviously did not take me serious enough when I stated it had to be that simple and fired the staff who created it. I ended up hiring a new manager and staff and we did it all over again. This time, it's perfect and we're on a role.

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

It runs itself basically. Whenever there is a problem, it will notifiy me BEFORE anyone else does. It's so simple, we can allow anyone who can read basically operate this system, from our end and from the users end.

What was your biggest mistake?

Not doing this long ago, or I should say, not having updated our idea years before and continued with it.

Who maintains your website and why?

We maintain our own servers and systems. We have our own NOC and we are 24/7/365. Security and confidentiality are a must with this type of system as it deals with law enforcement and their private information.

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

We have built strong and lasting relationships with chiefs of police and sheriffs all over the country. Citizens also have commented to us about it and they use our services every day, including in Ohio.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

Ecommerce is growing and niche markets are going to take off. The future of the Internet will change lives and it will be in your pocket 24/7/365 soon handling all things.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

It is very important and needed if you wish to succeed.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

Of course they have helped, its like having a car...you can't drive it without fuel.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Word of mouth and paid ads. However, this is only a temporary thing with the paid ads. You have to do your homework and get the word out there. It's not going to be the next MySpace or Google hit right away, you need to develop relationships that will allow others to promote you and vise versa. It takes time and you have to have the patience, there is no real fast way to do things, it does take time

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

Direct sales, having a person call.

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

Tougher penalties and stronger laws that will go after those who abuse it and abuse others such as child porn.

What States is BobCOP working in?

WE are in all 50 States and work closely with agencies all over including the courts. We intend to grow and be a service that all can use. Keep watching!

What is your website address?

BobCOP
