StreetSense Safety and Security Inc Interview

By Interviewer at 02/05/09 08:31

Alberta, Self Defense: Instructing at a Self Defense course

Name of your website?

StreetSense Safety and Security Inc

Your name?

Kerry Sauve

Your Location (city, etc)

Calgary

Please give us a short summary of your website?

We specialize in Women's Self Defense and Street Proofing courses. We offer full contact Padded Attacker courses with Personal Safety training.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

We saw a need for women and teens to have access to Personal Safety and Self Defense training that works, without the need to spend years studying the marital arts.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

2007, it was the first incarnation of our company.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Our name acutally changed when we incorporated, and the website evolved with the name change.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We offer realistic Personal Safety and Self Defense training facilitated by vetran Peace Officers with over 50 years experience in the combat arts. Our training is full contact Padded Attacker training and our students learn what does and doesn't work in an attack situation.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

We would like to see the company grow and become a mainstay in this important industry.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Very well, now that we have established a good name, our customer service speaks for itself. We are booking up months in advance.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I'd conduct television and radio advertising. I'd also expand into the rest of Western Canada as their is a need for these services.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

With the right people, you bet. It would be a great opportuinity to reward people who have helped us get to where we are.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Learning how to market and all of the associated business protocols that we didn't know.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Marketing an incredibly viable and important service. We have taken a lot of time to research how to get the message out and it seems to be working as we are getting a lot of new customers.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Our blog has definitely helped get the message out.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It is a lot more time consuming and fun than I thought it would be.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

We plan to continue to upgrade and keep the site fresh. We'd like to be doing this in 20 years.

What is your website address?

StreetSense Safety and Security Inc
